Deadlines, submissions, meetings, to-do lists, emails…

Does it ever feel like life is speeding by at 1000 miles per hour and you’re just barely hanging on? In our fast-paced lives, work can cause a lot of stress and negatively impact your mental health микрозайм на карту срочно без отказа.

So here’s how can you calm your mind and get a little zen into your life!

Meditate

Meditate, meditate, meditate. Oh, and did I mention, meditate?

There is nothing as effective as meditation to calm down your mind. Meditation helps you focus, reduces stress, controls anxiety, promotes clear thinking, and helps you be in control of your emotions. It cultivates an overall sense of well-being within the body and the mind.

If you are new to meditating, there are many apps to try out, like Insight Timer, Calm, or Headspace. If you prefer, you can find a myriad of options on Youtube too. Once you start, you won’t be able to stop – it’s the most healthy and beneficial addiction.

Mindfulness

Meditation is closely tied to mindfulness. Mindfulness means being completely present in the current moment and being fully aware of what you are doing.

One way you can do this is by noticing all your senses: touch, sight, sound, taste, and smell. This may sound easy enough, but in today’s world of instant gratification, easy access to entertainment and constant distraction, it has become harder and harder. When our phones go blaring off every millisecond and our brains are scattered across five to-do lists, ten apps, and three calls per minute, being present is the last thing we do.

When was the last time you waited in line without checking your phone? Or sipped on a cup of coffee without doing anything else? Since we, as a human race in the 21st century are so bad at mindfulness, it is a practice we must strive to cultivate.

Gratitude Journaling

When you start becoming mindful, it becomes easier to notice the small things in life that make you happy. Focusing on the good things in life is scientifically proven to improve your mental health.

No one’s life is perfect, but everyone’s life has something to appreciate. Whether it is simply your morning coffee or a house to live in, a sale in your favourite store, or a new car, there is always something to be grateful for. Jotting down just three things everyday can make you much more appreciative of what you have and happier over-all.

Night-time routine

Creating a night-time routine is one of the best ways to relax your mind before going to sleep.

A routine sends signals to your mind that it should begin preparing for sleep, and helps you end your day in a relaxed manner. It is also an ideal time to incorporate a few of the other practices we spoke about above, like meditating, gratitude, and mindfulness.

Exercise

One of the best ways to improve your mental health is to exercise. Exercising releases endorphins and serotonin, both mood-improving hormones. That’s why you always feel great after a good workout and why runners experience a “high”.

Studies show that regular exercise can combat depression as effectively as some anti-depressants. Running for 15 minutes every day or walking for an hour reduces the risk of major depression by 26%. Exercising also improves sleep quality, increases energy, and enhances concentration and memory. So, if you want to improve your mental health, work on your physical health!

easy ways to improve mental health

With rising stress levels and the growing pressure of what has come to be a regular day in the 21st century, your mental health is more important than ever. Ignoring it can not only have detrimental effects on your mental wellbeing, but also on your physical health and other parts of your life. So take some time to stop hustling in every other aspect of your life, and pause to focus on yourself.

Breathe. Be present. Move. Be grateful. Remember to listen to your body, give time to your mind, and appreciate yourself.
