How to pamper yourself after a busy day at the office

When was the last time you stopped to look back on life and wonder where the lost time went?

If you find yourself feeling temperamental, stressed out or impatient almost all the time, then it’s about time you break the vicious cycle of your routine life and take some time out for yourself. After all, a bit of self-love can work wonders, plus you totally deserve it after putting in all that hard work. Here is a roll on ways to self-indulge to rejuvenate your tired soul.

Read a book

Ask a book lover and they will tell you that reading is almost therapeutic. It could be a thriller, a fantastical story or a book on personal development. If you are feeling inspirational then read a biography or a self-help book. Reading is beneficial in more ways than you can imagine, it stimulates the brain, improves your vocabulary, increases focus and concentration and takes you to another world. You are most likely to destress after reading a book.

Kool Kanya tip: If you don’t have a lot of free time at home, carry your favourite book to work and read it either during your coffee break or while you commute to and from work.

Listen to music

Who needs company when you can do just fine with music? It has been scientifically proven that listening to music helps the brain release dopamine, a neurotransmitter that stimulates feelings of happiness and excitement subsequently fighting chronic stress. You will sleep better too, so what are you waiting for? Crank up the volume and dance like no one is watching you.

Kool Kanya tip: A good pair of headphones, and you can tune out of a stressful situation whenever you need. Tune into your favourite tunes on your way home, and forget all about your stressful meetings and upcoming deadlines.

Time-out

How often are we hit by the thought of being taken care of? In the confines of home, that may not be possible. Instead, do something out of the ordinary. Don’t head home after work tonight, go book a room at a fancy hotel, indulge in a luxurious bath or spa, drink the night away while enjoying your favourite movie or stream your most loved series and let everything else be taken care of.

Kool Kanya tip: Take a half day and work and indulge. Trust us, its totally worth it.

Retail therapy

As Rebecca Bloomwood says, “I love new clothes. If everyone could just wear new clothes every day, I reckon depression wouldn’t exist anymore.” We don’t particularly mean clothes alone, purchasing something that you have been eyeing for a while can be a great way to de-stress.

Kool Kanya tip: Head to the mall either on your way home or during your lunch break, and give yourself a treat. Or else, get online!

Break the routine

We all know that the mythical 9 to 5 job extends much beyond. Working late nights and then heading home completely drained out and tired may have become a drill by now.  We suggest, once in a while trying to take the afternoon off and meet a friend or watch a movie or just laze around at home. Sometimes a mid-week crisis can get to you and doing something to break away from your otherwise stressful job can be a great way to treat yourself.

Kool Kanya tip: Taking a break will help increase your productivity. So stop feeling guilty.

Feel pretty

Had a super tiring day at work? Book an appointment and get yourself a pedicure and manicure or a new haircut, because feeling beautiful is a great way to get you going on tougher days. It not only revitalises you but also boosts your self-worth to newer heights.

Kool Kanya tip: Book an appointment for your bestie as well and turn the one hour of beauty session into a we-time routine.

Lavish bath

A quick bath every day may have become a norm, that’s why indulging in a long-drawn bath is almost vital. Start with a hair mask, skin conditioners and a scrub, and then move on to a warm bath with bath salts, scented candles and exotic bath oils. You are going to sleep like a baby, we promise.

Kool Kanya tip: If you have a million things to do as soon as you reach work, finish all of them and take your luxurious bath when the rest of the house is asleep. Works like magic.

Health is wealth

By allowing yourself a regular exercise routine, you are paving your way to living a healthy life. The benefits are uncountable and that’s why one of the best ways to pamper yourself is to dedicate time to your health.

Kool Kanya tip: If you can’t head to the gym, go for a post-lunch walk with a colleague. Try ways to get in some amount of exercise into your daily routine.

At the end of the day, remember to be kind to yourself.  Remind yourself that you are worthy of your own time and some self-indulgence always helps.
